More summer memories

Jude had his first swim in the pool on the weekend. Another milestone, and happy memory.

bloody heatwave

I don't look as cute running through the sprinklers with my wet hair matted against my brow, white skin speckled with dirt and shiny with sweat and water droplets, bathing suit soggily dangling to my knees. Which is one of the reasons I don't really dig on this heat wave we've been having here in Victoria. Hopefully its over soon.

Ethan, on the other hand, knows how to work it. Posted by Picasa

Summertime

Summertime
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.

Your daddy's rich,
And your mama's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry.

One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky.

But till that morning
There's a nothing can harm you
With daddy and mama standing by

Summertime
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high

Your daddy's rich
And your mama's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry. Posted by Picasa

Summer's here

Its the first day of summer; Judie is 7 months old today (time is rushing by toooooo fast!) and we also got a new (used) minivan today!

What a day.

E, on the other hand, has been a handful lately (that's the nicest way I can think of putting it) but makes up for it by finally telling us that he loves us. As if there was any doubt that this toddler-parenting stuff was worth it. It is. Posted by Picasa

Postsecret

Just discovered this blog. Powerful stuff - if you've not read some of the entries (especially for fathers' day) I encourage you to do so.

One day these boys will know how lucky they are to have the most wonderful daddy. One day, soon. Happy Fathers' Day, honey! Happy Fathers' Day to my daddy, too. xo Posted by Picasa

Looks like rain

Impending rain threatens our walk with Auntie Sam to the park today. Not sure what we'll do in lieu, though E's mighty disappointed.

Is it only Tuesday? I feel like I've lived a full week already, frankly. Posted by Picasa

zzzzzzzzz

It's Saturday Night. I have the house to myself - Troy's at a poker game; the boys are both asleep. I could do anything I want (within these four walls) - freedom! But all I can do is try to keep my eyes open! And for what?

Its 8:30 p.m., and to be honest, all too often I'm yawning yawning yawning at this time of night. With no familial or otherwise obligations looming, I think I'll hit the sack and read for a little bit.

Let's get this party started!

In other (brief) news, we went to a local carnival fair today with the boys - Ethan' rode on his first carnival ride with Grandma today, and got a little balloon, et cetera. It was a fun day. Jude slept most of the time in the BabyBjorn, which was nice and cuddly.

Ate corn dogs.

sunny days..sweeping the clouds away....

I'm really enjoying this summer weather, even though I don't get to lay in it like I'd like to; our daily walks each morning in the sunshine are nice and refreshing while the boys get a change of scenery (even though we walk the same route daily) and I get some exercise and a little colour on my shoulders. A small perk about our route is the wine store location - very convenient and it keeps mummy sane come happy hour. Its also great motivation to go for a walk when there's only an inch of wine left in the bottle.

I guess I don't have much else to say than that!

Carry on. Posted by Picasa

slurpees

Jude's finally getting the hang of his sippy cup! He's not sure if he likes diluted juice yet, but he sure likes holding the cups handles and knawing away at the spout! Such a proud parenting moment!

nee naw nee naw nee naw!

Today we walked across the street with Grandma to participate in the fire department's open house. We all had fun. The rain let up for just enough time for a 30 minute exploration of the fire hall.

The children are both in bed now - I'm going to finish this glass of wine, have a shower, then get back to my book and have an early night to bed. The boys are both well and happy.

It was a good day. Posted by Picasa

meh

Tired, as per usual. Reading lots though, so that's something.

Kids finally in bed - and I'm trying to muster up the energy to heat up something for dinner. I may just end up having a glass of wine and hitting the sack.

Blessed sleep! Posted by Picasa
